Sadness is one of the "six basic emotions" among humans. Sadness can be understood as an emotional pain associated with feelings of disappointment, sorrow, loss, despair, grief, helplessness, or any other weighing down feeling/emotion. Any person experiencing sadness in any form might as well distance themselves from others, and involuntarily become quiet or lethargic. Crying can be an indication of sadness. But for sure, the dark clouds are accompanied by the lighter ones too, implying that there can be some times when the person would not experience this emotion to that severe extent. Sadness can also sometimes be relieved with the help of venting, crying, exercising, or other methods of releasing this emotion of Sadness, which is believed that usually pass with time. A moment of concern arises if this emotion starts to overpower the thinking and behavior of the individual to cause uncontrolled and abnormal distress and feeling of loss. That may result in depression if things are not controlled on time. This condition may occur due to various personal, social, or biological reasons.
Sadness is a common experience in childhood, but this condition may worst the condition of an individual if a person does not share his/her moments of stress or sadness, however big or small it might be. So, it is necessary to share your mental distress with others, and researches indicated that where mothers do not allow their children to share their sad feelings with others; the child may never learn how to deal with sadness by themselves.
People deal with sadness in different ways, and it is an important emotion because it helps to motivate people to deal with their situation unless and until one does not allows the emotion to overpower their daily living in a negative way. Beautiful poetry, songs, painting, and other high levels of creative tasks also relieve sadness/distress. Some individuals choose to move outside and stay in a peaceful place for some time and give a bit of rest to mind, body, and work to recover from sad feelings. While dealing with these emotions, most of the time they come out stronger because that might be the best way of dealing with the negative emotions and self-reinforcement make it part of personality.
There is no rule or law saying that no two people can or cannot deal with sadness in the same way or in a different way, it just is supposed to be in any manner that works well for an individual.
